Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to the 40th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission (ESC2026), which will take place in Istanbul, Türkiye, 6 to 11 September 2026. This event will bring together experts and researchers from across the globe to exchange knowledge and share the latest developments in seismology.

The 40th GA of the ESC will be held in Istanbul. Along with its rich history as a crossroads of civilizations, bridging Europe and Asia, Istanbul offers a unique blend of ancient traditions and modern culture, providing an inspiring backdrop for discussing recent advances in seismology.

The 2026 General Assembly is expected to attract hundreds of participants from over 60 countries, with contributions spanning a wide array of topics, including but not limited to seismic networks, observational seismology, earthquake physics, seismic hazard assessment, induced seismicity, ground motion modeling and simulation, site characterization, and societal and engineering extensions of seismology. Discussions will also cover the latest findings on recent significant earthquakes and explore innovative approaches in education and outreach.
